GUIDING PRINCIPLES

As we begin our work together, I ask that you help me maximize the effectiveness of our time together by adhering to the following guiding principles.  The specifics are less important than that we have shared commitments about our time together, so I offer these as a starting point  After a few sessions, we can check in on what is working, and evolve the design of our time as needed to best meet your goals:

1. Come to the coaching session prepared.  We have a set amount of time together, and it will help us be most targeted and effective if you have a list of the things you want to share and discuss.  So that you can get what you want from our session, your session preparation could include:

  • Successes and wins you’ve had since our last session
  • Challenges you’ve faced and how you’ve handled them
  • Shifts or new awareness which excite you
  • The outcome you want for this coaching session
  • What you see as next to work on with your coach

2. Enjoy our session.  We have work to do together, but I also aim for you to enjoy our coaching sessions.   The more integrated our time together, the more extraordinary the results we can produce.

3. Commit to having a balanced life.  Taking on new challenges and altering your work and lifestyle can increase the stress in your life, even if only for a short time.  It’s important to anticipate this, and to do what’s necessary to ensure that stress does not increase to a level where it negatively impacts your ability to perform and to enjoy your life.  I can support you in designing a strategy to maximize your growth while minimizing stress.

4. Do your fieldwork each week.  These are the tasks, actions, results or changes that you are telling yourself and me that you will do your best to complete before our next session.  This work is the field of play for your development and crucial to your ability to advance your personal and professional goals.
